As the lead narrative for our contemporary challenges involving the collapse of the environment, the damaging consequences of human activity, and the direct abuses to nature causing climate change and fossil fuel junctures, the anthropocene (a term made famous by the late meteorologist and atmospheric chemist Paul J. Crutzen) has been positioned as the official scheme to define our actions and paths towards the future of our global climate crisis.
Nonetheless, in the last 20 years, the emergence of -cenes had a necessary explosion in the spheres of knowledge, not only related to the geological sciences, but also in the realms of politics, activism, philosophy, design, arts, technosciences and aesthetics: the legion of -cenes (capitalocene, misanthropocene, chthulucene, gynocene, plantationocene, homogenocene, among many others) reclaim their own narratives, scenarios, responsibilities, critiques and speculations about the future crisis we will have to confront as international societies.
In this workshop, we will try to address the emergency of -cenes as alternative narratives, its causes, axis and negotiations through diy t-shirt design as unusual strategies of platform criticism, distribution, development and discussion. We request all participants to bring your own 2 or 3 reused t- shirts/sweatshirts (cotton).
The workshop will be conducted by visiting artist H C-(M) who is a digital designer from Mexico. Website: tecno-grafias.com
