About the work

Inspired by the writing of Corfiot author Konstantinos Theotokis, the piece takes listeners on a journey between real and imagined soundscapes.

Its title comes from a line in Theotokis's novella "Pistoma" and points to the work's central concern: transition, from the familiar to the unknown, from the real to the fantastic, from life towards death. Built from original field recordings made across the Ionian Islands, the composition moves between the immediacy of place and the abstract space of acousmatic listening, turning the sonic environment into a space of shared memory.

About the festival

Under the theme "Listen with", Sonic Nomads 2026 brings 68 sound works recorded in 26 countries, along with nine live performances, to SNU Powerplant. Played through an immersive multichannel sound system, its material ranges from the quietest sounds of everyday life to environmental recordings from around the world, all transformed into music.

Every work in the programme was chosen through an international open call, and together they make the four-day festival an invitation to the art of deep, attentive listening.
