Drifting
Social sensitization animation project on road safety. It emphasizes the use of a safety helmet when driving a motorcycle. The project was realized by the "Graffiti Animation Lab" (Applied Arts Sector/ 9th Vocational High School of Patras) with the participation of 13 adult students. It was produced with the team-work approach to learning and the implementation of conventional animation techniques.

The subject of Charis Myrsilidi’s thesis concerns the transfer of literary text to image. The excerpts of the selected texts are stories from the Grimm brothers' fairy tales and the connecting link is the pattern of transformation (metamorphosis). The presentation of the practical part of the thesis concerns an installation with clay sculptures, sound track and lighting. The sculptural space is formed by Charis Myrsilidi, a student of the Department of Audio Visual Arts and the sound by the composer Ioannis Konsolakis.
The fulfillment of a last wish leads Filippo to a retrospection from the mountains of Epirus to the recent past of the year 1945. His meeting with his history revives the memory of a whole village, unfolding the relations and the bonding of two peoples against the commands of an era, which is not as far as we think.
When the observer is standing in front of a work of art and is trying to comprehend it, they are consciously entering a recognition process. This is achieved because the brain recognizes the relationship between some shapes or colors in the piece of art and, automatically, recalls them from memory. This procedure creates the necessary conditions for the creation of new neural synapses. Using these facts?, the artist suggests an audiovisual performance that includes an interference of audio to the visual aspect? in real time.
The project is the animation of the fairy tale "The chained elephant". "The Chained Elephant" is one of the stories of psychiatrist Jorge Bukay from his book "Let me tell you a story" which he tells to his client. It refers to a child' s question who notices that a huge circus elephant remains tied to a small stick without trying to free itself and without protesting. The circus elephant remained tied to his tiny stick because "the memory of the weakness he felt shortly after his birth is etched in his memory."
The main subject of this thesis is to analyze the special effects that George Melies used and invented, as well as the creation of a short film with special and visual effects, inspired by Melies’ work. This film has been implemented using modern techniques, aiming for an outcome that seems realistic but cannot actually happen in real life. All the techniques that have been used to create the film will be analyzed in depth.
The short documentary focuses on the preparation of the solo performance "EVA", performed by the dancer and performer Evangelia Randou. The project is based on her personal experiences and has been created and staged by her. The film reveals the moments when the dancer works with her body, experiments, creates and improvises. The documentary is a portrait of the dancer herself, but also of the work she creates.
The quarantine's experience time has functioned as a humanized time. Its previous social barbarity was imprisoned in the familiar cage of my soul and became my creation time. Each day was my friend, an eternal circular and dynamic present, a consciousness without conflicts. It was like an eternity that is experienced differently every moment. An unprecedented form of stillness gripped me and perpetuated in many abstract fragments which finally formed the new texture of my existence, in this peculiar isolation. I became from the carcass of time I was before, its qualitative disintegration… Reality was distorted and experienced illusively. The time from the alienation that was before, was transformed and became the cover for the scratched truth of myself. This kind of time my conscience had dreamed to live.
